Mission In Motion
Connecting You to Good Health
The need for preventive healthcare and education in both rural and non-rural areas of the community has launched Memorial Hospital’s newest wellness program: Mission in Motion—Connecting You to Good Health. The Mission in Motion unit is a 28 foot mobile health trailer used to travel to underserved areas of our rural community providing free health screenings to individuals who do not have access to traditional healthcare.
Serving Clay, Owsley and Jackson Counties, the Mission in Motion mobile health unit will provide free health screenings to assess total cholesterol, blood glucose, body mass index, weight, height and blood pressure. Participating in these free screenings will provide a way for individuals to assess their overall health in regards to heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other factors contributing to such diseases. Anyone whose results indicate potential health issues, will be directed to the medical help they need to reverse, eliminate or treat their symptoms and/or disease.
It is Memorial Hospital’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ, and the mobile health unit will allow us to more easily touch lives by going beyond hospital walls to promote wellness. Screenings with the mobile health unit will be made available at centrally located churches, health fairs, community meetings and schools. Through timely screenings and community education regarding the risk of diseases attributed to high cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass index and blood pressure; Mission in Motion will truly be able to connect all parts of our community to good health.
