Our Need

The mountains of Eastern Kentucky cradle proud, independent and generous people.  We love our beautiful communities which continually face complex social and economic problems in light of the region’s poverty.

At Manchester Memorial Hospital, we strive to offer and broaden our healing ministry in every encounter.

“Working in and for a community that values families and relationships has been a pleasure,” said CEO Dennis Meyers.

Since 1971, Manchester Memorial Hospital has strived to deliver compassionate care to the people in and around Clay County, Kentucky.  We believe we continue to make a positive impact on the region by ministering to the people that pass through our doors by providing quality care in our main facility, home health agency, and clinics.

The needs of our region are enormous. Perennially ranked as one of the nation's poorest counties, Clay County is also considered to be one of the most medically underserved.  In 2008, Manchester Memorial Hospital provided over $4 million in charity care to individuals without medical insurance and otherwise in difficult financial circumstances.

We strive to care for our patients with compassion and kindness. The physical and spiritual needs of our patients are always our primary concerns.

“We exist to add value to one life, to impact one family, to benefit to one soul," said Meyers.

Our medical providers demonstrate their conscientious regard for our patients and their families every day.  Serving our patients with dignity and compassion is the daily mission of our staff and the Manchester Memorial Hospital family.
