About Us

  • Situated in the heart of the Daniel Boone National Forest, Manchester Memorial Hospital provides healthcare services to Clay, Jackson and Owsley counties.
  • Our facility began service in 1917 as the Oneida Mountain Hospital before building at the current location in 1971.  Memorial's Christian mission is central to the hospital’s participation in the wellness of the community.

Manchester Memorial Hospital is a 49-bed acute care, not-for-profit Christian community hospital and adheres to the mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ. The hospital is owned and operated by Adventist Health System (AHS), the largest not-for-profit Protestant healthcare organization in the US. AHS currently operates 46 hospitals in 10 states.

Today we have more than 500 employees who care for the residents of Clay and surrounding counties. Memorial averages 60,000 patient visits each year, including 20,680 emergency visits and nearly 200 births. In the 1950s, the hospital was an innovator in home nursing care, taking much-needed medical services directly to the people.  Currently, Memorial Hospital is the parent organization for three home healthcare offices serving 14+ counties in Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia.
