Patient Room Service

Hotel Style Room Service for Patients

As part of our efforts to provide high-quality, personalized care, we extended our services on the first of June to offer patients the opportunity to order their own meals with a hotel-style room service program. This program took six months to develop from inception to implementation. In that time, Terry Crist, MMH Chef, Kellie Gray, Dietician, Theresa Stimson, Clinical Informatics Director, and Wayne Dubbels, ISIT Director, worked very closely to make sure that the foundation of this program was laid smoothly. It is thanks to them that this program is flourishing the way that it is. We are proud to be the first hospital in the Adventist Health System to offer a program like this out of our own kitchen!

What It's About

Room service is offered to patients from 6:30am to 6:30pm. To place an order, the patient can either call in to the cafeteria or a Room Service Ambassador can assist them.

When a patient is ready to order, they simply pick up the phone and call kitchen staff, tell them what they want to eat, and within 30 minutes they get their hot meal. As the patient calls in, the dietary staff enters their order onto an iPad which then communicates with a monitor in the kitchen and creates the actual meal ticket. From there, staff can clearly see what dietary restrictions have been placed on the patient and what foods they cannot consume.
