Fund provides employee to employee financial support
By David Watson
Asst. Team Leader, Plant Services
The Benevolent Committee is a wonderful example of “extending the healing ministry of Christ”. The committee was established as a means of providing employee to employee support for those who encounter difficult financial times.
Since its inception in January of 2000, I have witnessed fellow employees benefit from this mission of healing one another after devastating house fires, crippling falls, uncertain illness, and tragic accidents through monetary means of support. It is my distinct honor to represent the employees of Memorial Hospital along with the many others who have served on this committee and those who currently donate their time, money and effort to help others.
During the past six years, this committee of your peers has worked diligently to address each application with confidentiality and diligence. We understand the responsibility of being asked to serve as stewards of other people’s generosity. I will assure everyone that every application is critiqued with care and sincerity while adhering to the by-laws of the benevolent fund.
Currently 35% of hospital employees contribute to the benevolent fund. These gracious people donated $13,062 last year which benefited 15 employees. If you would like to help your fellow associates with as little a one dollar per pay period, please contact your manager or any member of the committee listed below.
On behalf of the benevolent fund committee, I want to thank everyone who is donating and to thank you in advance for becoming a first time contributor.
