Manchester, KY – Manchester Memorial Hospital (MMH) hosted their first ever Spring Fiesta on 24th April 2015 at the hospital campus and drew out a large crowd. This event was just for ladies, to commemorate the hard work they do every day, and give them a chance to simply relax and enjoy
“We were extremely pleased with the turnout,” said Hurriyat Ghayyur, Director of Marketing at MMH. “It was refreshing to see these ladies stress-free and enjoying our Spring Fiesta. We were happy to give back to the ladies of our community” said Ghayyur.
Live cooking demos on healthy and nutritious recipes were done by Chef Terry Crist, whose salad dressing was a hit with the ladies and his recipe cards were gone in the first hour of the event. Joe B. and Scarlett trimmed, styled and freshened up ladies’ hair for the day…..all for free! Their booth had a long line of waiting ladies till the end of the event. Another high traffic zone was the CREATION Health (CH) booth and their fresh fruit kebobs were a hit were the crowd. The Diabetes and Dietary teams were also present at the CH booth to hand out information.
CHIQ Med Spa not only displayed their services and makeup products but also did live make-overs. Many ladies went back looking like a million dollars! The Spa also gave away 5 gift baskets to attendees. Additional coupons were also generously donated by AXIS Coffee Shop.
The fun element was brought on by Jenni Smith…who made the ladies do a Zumba session. On the side, the Red Bird Mission group carried our bone density screenings. After getting screened for free, the ladies could take their results to Dr. Gupta, the Hospital’s new Orthopedic Surgeon and discuss their readings with him. Apart from Dr. Gupta, Drs. Ian Sink (Willowbrook Women’s Center) and Patricia Burke (Manchester Pediatrics Clinic) were also on-site.
Some of the other booths included in the Fiesta were:
• Fresh Produce from Old Homeplace Farms’ , who were there with their new and increasingly popular produce program
• Stella and Dot representative with jewelry and accessories
• The UK Angels Program
• Laurel Creek
• The Extension Office
• Stella & Dot Jewellery
• Willowbrook Women’s Center
• Manchester Orthopedic and Spine Center
The Hospital had also arranged for a separate Kids’ section, to give mothers a chance to enjoy the Fiesta knowing their kids are in good hands. The Clay County Library team was on-hand to look after the children and had a variety of activities to do with them, like coloring and games etc.
“The interest shown by the community, and the large number of attendees was very encouraging. We hope to make this bigger and better next year,” added Ghayyur.
