The need for preventive healthcare and education in both rural and non-rural areas of the community launched Memorial Hospital’s wellness program: Mission in Motion—Connecting You to Better Health.
The Mission in Motion unit is a 28 foot mobile health trailer used to travel to under served areas of our rural community providing free health screenings to individuals who do not have access to traditional healthcare.
Connecting You to Better Health: Services
Serving Clay, Owsley and Jackson Counties, the Mission in Motion mobile health unit provides free health screenings to assess total cholesterol, blood glucose, body mass index, weight, and blood pressure. Participating in these free screenings allows individuals to assess their overall health in regards to heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other factors contributing to such diseases.
It is Memorial Hospital’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ, and the mobile health unit reaches beyond hospital walls to promote this mission. Screenings with the mobile health unit can be provided at centrally located churches, health fairs, community meetings and schools. Through timely screenings and community education regarding the risk of diseases attributed to high cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass index and blood pressure; Mission in Motion is able to connect all areas of our community to better health.
