Manchester, KY: Manchester Memorial Hospital (MMH) looks forward to another successful Mommy & Baby Fair. The event will be hosted at Eastern Kentucky University (Manchester Campus) on May 28th, from 11am until 1pm.
This time around, MMH will be creating a separate Kids’ Area, so that mothers can leave their kids in safe hands and visit all the booths set up. This area will be supervised by the Clay County Public Library and will have lots of activities and competitions for the children.
An Information Area will be set up for the event, which will include several information booths from community resources such as Wellcare, WIC, HANDS, First Steps, Promise Neighborhood and others.
As in the previous year, attendees can expect to have the MiM Unit on-site conducting free health screenings. Dr. Ian Sink, OB/GYN will be present there with the teams from Willowbrook Women’s Center and OB unit at the hospital, and will provide information about upcoming free childbirth classes, Kangaroo Care, newborn gift packages and other programs available. Manchester Pediatrics will be in attendance as well to answer inquiries, along with Dr. Patricia Burke, pediatrician.
Many representatives from MMH will be on hand for Q&A sessions. Morgan Bowling will provide information regarding the guiding principles of Creation Health, Megan Kunkel, MMH’s Diabetes Counselor, will explain gestational diabetes, and Kellie Gray, Dietician, will be leading a discussion concerning diet changes that promote better health in expecting mothers and newborns.
By popular demand, the MMH Gift Gallery will also have a booth featuring baby accessories, stuffed toys, and Mud Pie brand clothing. Refreshments will be provided, as well as photography services for expectant mothers who wish to receive a photo shoot of their pregnancy. Free massages will also be available.
The Mommy & Baby Fair isn’t just for new or expecting mothers, however. Women interested in becoming mothers, whether by birth or adoption, will receive the information that they need. Helping Hand will be available to answer questions about adoption.
Vendors will represent local businesses with products targeting expecting mothers and their children. Some of the other vendors represented at the event are:
• CHIQ’ Med Spa
• Dobson & Keith
• Stella & Dot
• Clay County Physical Fitness & Therapy…………and much more
